I tried to capture the devastation and remnants of the affected buildings. Because the event happened during winter, I used a cold color palette, while using the color of the mud to include red tones and to create a base for highlights, such as persons or bright scraps. Broken wooden elements were used to create depth and character, as well as to show the violence of the seemingly calm waters. Instead of a simple 2D illustration, I built a miniature, which I then used as a reference from different angles.

FROM HERE TO SOMEWHERE is an environment concept set in the events of the ohio river flood in 1937. I created a visual concept of possible assets as a reference for 3D modelling and texturing within a game development pipeline.
